Sweet Stamps Bookmark Challenge

Today our challenge at the Sweet Stamps blog is bookmarks! Sweet Stamps has several bookmark frames to use, and plenty of bookmarks designs to go inside the frames. Be sure to check out the blog to see all the bookmarks that the Design Team and others that have entered, have made!  Anyone can enter,
but if you use a Sweet Stamps rubber stamp you get two entries into the challenge for a chance  to win a $20 shopping spree.

Please bear with me, this is a long post. Mostly pictures. I had so much fun with this challenge, and I used NO PAPER. Thats right, absolutely no paper!
I got out my wood burning tool and used it on suede to
create these bookmarks.

First, I used Sweet Stamps images and stamped them on the suede.
Then I used the fine tip for the wood burning tool and outlined the images. Its a little tricky at first because the suede melts very quickly.
So I  had to use a light hand.
I wish you could feel the bookmarks. Its so cool! I colored the bookmarks with Berol Prismacolor Pencils and sewed them together with coordinating fabrics.
I used colored pencil because it really showed up well on the suede.
I tried markers, but they just soaked in.

Cutwork Bookmark 411

(flower bookmark - this one has the flowers and the frame all in one stamp!)

Vertical Frame 425

For two of the bookmarks I used die cuts for the shape.

I stitched on silk flowers and ribbon for the embellishments.

In this close-uo you can see that I burned lines of hair for the horse.
